Our specialty includes the manufacturing of "Thin Panels", those whose finished thickness is between 1/8" and 3/4".

Early History
In 1942, Wood Specialty Company began its long history by manufacturing "Blocking Wood", a specialized Edge-Glued panel made from Cherry or Hard Maple, used exclusively in the printing industry. WSC distiguished itself in its ability to meet the extreme close tolerance requirements of .002 inches in thickness or less! At the height of the Blocking Wood Industry, there were many companies producing this product in the U.S. As the technology changed over the years, most Blocking Wood manufacturers disappeared. Today, Wood Specialty Company is the only original manufacturer still actively producing Blocking Wood. We continue to serve firms all across North America and Canada.
Edge-Glued Panels
Along with Blocking Wood, Edge-Glued panels used in other industries began to become our main focus. Edge-Glued panels is the process by which kiln dried solid lumber is rough cut to length, defected for imperfections such as knots, splits, etc. and then prepared on each edge to be glued into any width panel required. After the gluing has cured, the panels are sized to exact lengths, widths and thicknesses, quality-inspected, palletized and shipped to our customers. Using the proven techniques of our past and incorporating them into the present we have been able to expand our production to include a wide variety of industries.
